Men's Track & Field Begins New England Championship Action

BOSTON, Mass. – Qualifying members of the men's indoor track and field began action at the New England Indoor Championship on Friday afternoon as senior Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and sophomore Francisco Tejidor (Coral Gables, Fla.) led the Crusaders in the 1,000-meter run, each advancing to tomorrow's final heat. McGrath finished first in the third preliminary race with a time of 2:29.56 while Tejidor took second in the second prelim with a career-best time of 2:28.60.

Three seniors will compete in the 60-meter hurdles tomorrow as Tim Moczula (Edison, N.J.) finished seventh (career-best, 8.33), Paul Coulter (Lakeville, Mass.) took 15th (8.57) and Thomas St. Cyr (Temple, N.H.) finished 17th (career-best, 8.65).

In the field events, sophomore Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.) finished fifth in the pole vault with a career-best height of 4.66 meters and junior Sean Carey (Newburyport, Mass.) finished 18th in the weight throw with a distance of 15.03 meters. 

The 2014 New England Indoor Championship will continue tomorrow, March 1, at 10:00 a.m.
