Men's Cross Country To Run At New England Championship

  • The Holy Cross men's cross country team will return to action at the New England Championship this Sunday, Oct. 7, at 12:45 p.m.
  • Last season, the Crusaders finished 23rd of 43 teams at the New England Championship. Graduate Dan Altenau was the top Holy Cross finisher in 47th place. Junior Zach Maddigan (Middleboro, Mass.) will be the top returning runner having finished behind Altenau with a time of 26:36. Juniors Dylan Villescas (Las Cruces, N.M.), Greg Hamalian (West Bridgewater, Mass.) and Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.) and sophomore Matt Muilenburg (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) also contributed to the team score last season.
  • The Crusaders are coming off a 15th place finish at the Paul Short Invitational. Villescas improved his time from 2011 by 49 seconds, while Hamalian improved by 2:21 and this year's top Crusader finisher sophomore John Cicchitti (Warminster, Pa.) bettered his time by 3:19. Freshman Francisco Tejidor (Coral Gables, Fla.) was the top rookie finisher with a time of 26:57.
