Women's Basketball Places Seven On League Academic Honor Roll
WORCESTER, Mass. - Seven members of the Holy Cross women's basketball team have been selected to the 2008-2009 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league office. Leading the Crusaders was junior forward Tayana Carper (Shrewsbury, Mass.), who was named to the team for the third straight season. Senior forward Jessica Merrihue (Holtsville, N.Y.) made her second career appearance on the honor roll, while sophomore guard Whitney Fremeau (Manchester, N.H.), freshman center Marygrace Jay (Vienna, Va.), sophomore guard Alyssa May (Oradell, N.J.), junior guard Bethany O'Dell (Lincoln, R.I.) and junior guard Jessica Pearson (West Chester, Pa.) were all honored for the first time.
A total of 42 student-athletes from women's basketball teams around the league earned spots on this year's Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a grade point average of 3.20 or better during the spring semester, and be a varsity letterwinner on her team.
Holy Cross finished the 2008-2009 campaign with an overall record of 13-17 and an 8-6 mark in the Patriot League.
