WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross sophomore guard Alex Smith (Delran, N.J.) has been named the Anaconda Patriot League Player of the Week after leading the team to its fifth win of the season with a 20-point performance against Northeastern last week. She also tallied five assists against the Huskies, leading the team in both the scoring and assists categories.
Smith topped out with a season-best five three-points made on Dec. 7 and also tied her season-high with seven field goals made in all. She has led the squad in scoring in three of the past four games and has led the team in assists in each of the four games. Holy Cross has gone 3-1 over the stretch, with Smith averaging 16 points and 6.8 assists. Through all nine games, Smith leads the team in scoring with 13.1 points and 5.4 assists, ranking third and first amongst Patriot League players respectively.
Holy Cross returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 18 against in-state rival Boston College. The 5-4 Crusaders will play at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass. beginning at 4:00 p.m.
