Women's Basketball To Host 17th Annual Golf Tourney

WORCESTER, Mass.­ - Holy Cross women's basketball head coach Bill Gibbons and the rest of his staff will host the 17th annual Crusader Legend Golf Tournament on Friday, Sept. 21 at the Cyprian Keyes Golf Club in Boylston, Mass. This year's tournament will honor Amy O'Brien '99.

O'Brien was a four-year letterwinner for the Holy Cross women's basketball team leading the squad to Patriot League titles in 1996, 1998 and 1999. A first team All-Patriot League selection in each of her final three seasons, O'Brien was named the Patriot League Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year in both 1998 and 1999. She finished her career as a Crusader with 2,075 points, 963 rebounds, 179 assists and 209 steals. O'Brien was named the Crusader of the Year in 1999, and was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.

The day will begin with breakfast and registration at 7:30 a.m. followed by the shot-gun start at 8:15 a.m. A luncheon honoring the Crusader legend will follow the tournament.

People wanting to participate can either sign up for breakfast and golf or breakfast, lunch and golf. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. All proceeds will benefit the Holy Cross women's basketball program. In order to reserve a four-some, please fill out the registration form and send to the women's basketball office by Monday, Sept. 17.
