Smith & Lepley Selected To All-Patriot League Teams

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross women's basketball junior co-captain Alex Smith (Delran, N.J.) and senior co-captain Amy Lepley (Norfolk, Mass.) have been selected to the first and second team All-Patriot League, respectively, as voted on by the conference's head coaches. In addition, Smith was also named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team, as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Smith has averaged a Patriot League best 14.7 points per game this season as she also leads the conference with 3.0 three-pointers made per game. She is second on the team with 3.7 assists per contest and tied for fourth on Holy Cross with 4.2 rebounds per game. Smith has led the team in scoring in 18 games this season and has scored double digits in 26 of the 29 contests in 2012-2013. Smith has scored 20 points four times this season and was named Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week for games from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3. She also crossed the 1,000 career points plateau on Jan. 19 at American, becoming the 29th Crusaders to achieve the milestone and the 11th to reach the mark during or before their junior season. For her career, Smith has totaled 1,171 points (17th on all-time list), 393 assists, 345 rebounds and 253 three-pointers made. She ranks second all-time in three-pointers made, three-pointers attempted (668) and is 10th in career assists. Smith also holds a 3.34 cumulative GPA and is majoring in psychology.

Lepley ranks second on Holy Cross with 11.5 points per game and leads the team with 5.3 rebounds per contest, while hitting 45.7 percent (86 of 188) of her field goal attempts. She ranks third on HC with 2.9 assists per game. In the 14 conference games played this season, Lepley ranks seventh in the Patriot League in points (11.7), fifth in field goal percentage (.432), ninth in assists (2.9) and 14th in rebounds (5.1) per game. She has led the team in scoring in three contests this season and has been the squad's top rebounder in four games. Lepley became the 28th Holy Cross women's basketball player to cross the 1,000 points mark on Jan. 6 at Fordham. During her four years at Holy Cross, Lepley has recorded 1,182 points, 616 rebounds, 247 assists and 140 steals. She is 16th on the Holy Cross scoring list and is one of only 11 Crusaders to score at least 1,000 points and grab over 600 rebounds.

Holy Cross (16-13 overall, 8-6 Patriot League) returns to action on Thursday, March 7, when it hosts Lehigh in the quarterfinal round game of the Patriot League Tournament, with the tipoff at 7:00 p.m.
