Women's Basketball Defeats Rhode Island, 65-56

Worcester, Mass. - Sophomore forward Briana McFadden (Wheaton, Md.) scored a season-high 21 points as Holy Cross beat Rhode Island, 65-56, in non-conference action at the Hart Center. The Crusaders improve to 2-2 while Rhode Island falls to 2-2.
Holy Cross took an early 5-0 lead as senior guard Laura Aloisi (Nashua, N.H.) opened the Crusader scoring with a three-pointer and a field goal. The Rams gained ball control, tying up the game at five with 15:45 left in the first half. Both teams scraped for the lead, but Holy Cross came up on top, 32-27, closing out the first half.
The Crusaders never looked back, maintaining control of the game and holding a lead as high as 14 points. Holy Cross sealed its second season victory, beating the Rams by 10 points.
McFadden led the Crusader scoring with 21 points while chipping in five rebounds, three assists, and a block.
Sophomore guard Bethany O'Dell (Lincoln, R.I.) contributed to the Crusader victory, netting 20 points including four three-pointers and recorded six rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Aloisi had 15 points, four rebounds, four assists and three assists.
Safi Mojidi led the Rams with 23 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals.
The Crusaders travel to New York to compete in the Courtyard by Marriott LaGuardia Turkey Classic, playing in the first of two games on Friday, November 23 versus Albany at 4:00 p.m.
