WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore guard Bethany O'Dell (Lincoln, R.I.), a member of the Holy Cross women's basketball team, has been named the Baden Patriot League Player of the Week, for competition from February 12-17. O'Dell led the Crusaders in scoring during both league contests last week as Holy Cross goes into this week's competition tied for first in the league.
In Saturday's 73-67 victory over Bucknell, O'Dell scored 19 points and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds. Against the Bison, she made 3-of-4 attempts from long range and sank all six attempts from the free throw line, leading the Crusaders to hitting 20-of-22 attempts from the charity stripe. O'Dell paced the Crusaders with 17 points and three steals during their 56-54 loss to Army on Wednesday, February 13.
On the week, O'Dell averaged 64.7% from the floor, 62.5% from long range, and 90.0% from the free throw line. She averaged 18.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
O'Dell ranks second in scoring for Holy Cross, averaging 11.2 points per game and is tied for second on the team in rebounds, averaging 4.2 boards per game. She is currently ranked first in free throws, converting 45-of-55 attempts so far this season.
This is the first career Patriot League Player of the Week for the sophomore standout and earns her seventh weekly award during her career after being named Patriot League Rookie of the Week six times last season.
Holy Cross (14-11 overall, 57-3 Patriot League), returns to action on Wednesday February 20, when it hosts Army at 7:00 p.m.
