Briana McFadden Named First Team All-Patriot League

WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore guard Briana McFadden (Wheaton, Md.) has been named to the 2007-2008 All-Patriot League first team in women's basketball, as voted by the conference's head coaches. In addition, sophomore guard Bethany O'Dell (Lincoln, R.I.) was named to the Patriot League second team while freshman center Elizabeth Campbell (Louisville, Ky.) was named to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team.

McFadden averaged 13.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game on the year for the Crusaders, while shooting 36.6 percent from the floor (115 of 314), 36.9 from long range (48 of 130) and 80.9 percent from free throw range (123 of 152). She finished the regular season ranked first in the league in free throw percentage, second in scoring, sixth in three-point field goal percentage and sixth in three-point field goals made (1.66 per game). McFadden led Holy Cross in scoring 14 times in 29 games played this year, including eight of the 15 Patriot League contests. She tied the school record for best free throw percentage in a single game, going 11-for-11 from the free throw line against UNC Asheville on December 29. Her efforts in this game also tied the school record for consecutive free throws made in a single game with 11. This is McFadden's second All-League selections after being named to the All-Rookie Team last year.

O'Dell averaged 11.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game, while shooting 37.5 (112-299) percent from the floor, 39.2 percent (60-153) from long range, and 81.2 percent (56-69) from the charity stripe. She finished the regular season tied for second in the league for three-point field goals made (60), ranked third in the league in three-point field goal percentage and eighth in scoring. She led the Crusaders in scoring in seven games this season, including four league games. This is O'Dell's second straight year named to the second-team and third All-Patriot League honors after being named to the All-Rookie Team last season.

Campbell finished her first season with the Crusaders appearing in 27 games and making eight starts. She averaged 6.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 0.8 assists per game. She led Holy Cross in blocks during her debut season, finishing with 33. Campbell finished the season ranked fifth in blocked shots in the Patriot League. She recorded two double-doubles this season, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds against American on Feb. 23 and had 14 points and 10 rebounds against Bucknell on Feb. 16.

Holy Cross (17-12 overall, 10-4 Patriot League) returns to action on Saturday, March 8 when it travels to West Point, N.Y. to face off against Navy in a quarterfinal round game of the Patriot League Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled at 5:00 p.m.

The major award winners will be announced at the 2008 Patriot League Women's Basketball Tournament Banquet on Friday March 7, which are Patriot League Player, Defensive Player, Rookie and Coach of the Year.
