Worcester, Mass. - Lisa Andrews (Concord, Mass.) was named the College of the Holy Cross representative for the 2004-05 ECAC Robbins Scholar- Athlete Award, as announced today by ECAC officials.
The 2005 Patriot League Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Andrews was also the College's NCAA Woman of the Year nominee and an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America District I selection this season. A two-time All-League pick, Andrews led Holy Cross to the program's 11th all-time NCAA Tournament appearance, while being named Patriot League tournament Most Valuable Player. In addition, the Crusaders captured their tenth Patriot League Tournament title and 11th regular season title in the 15-year history of the league.
Andrews served as tri-captain this season and became the 21st player in HC women's basketball history to score 1,000 career points. She was also named the Patriot League Player of the Week (Jan. 17, Nov. 22), and the Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week (Feb. 14). She finished her career ranked second in blocked shots in both Holy Cross women's basketball history and Patriot League women's basketball history.
A Psychology major with a Visual Arts minor, Andrews graduated in May with a 3.64 cumulative grade point average.
Sponsored by Robbins Sports Surfaces, the Cincinnati-based sports surfaces company, the awards honor the outstanding academic and athletics achievements of student-athletes representing ECAC schools in Divisions I, II and III. One male and one female athlete from each division have been selected by their institutions. Three committees comprised of athletics administrators will select two award winners in each division to be honored during the ECAC Convention Honors Dinner presented by Jostens on Sunday, September 25. Votes are based on extraordinary achievements in academics, athletics and community service.
