WORCESTER, Mass. - Five members of the Holy Cross women's basketball team have been selected to the 2005-2006 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league office. Leading the Crusaders was junior guard Brittany Keil (Sparta, N.J.), who had the fourth-highest grade point average in the conference with a 3.92 during the spring semester. Earlier this season, Keil was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's basketball.
Joining Keil on the Academic Honor Roll were senior guard Shannon Bush (Doylestown, Pa.), junior center Kaitlin Foley (Albany, N.Y.), freshman forward Jessica Merrihue (Holtsville, N.Y.) and senior guard Sarah Placek (Alexandria, Va.).
A total of 42 student-athletes from women's basketball teams around the league earned spots on this year's Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a grade point average of 3.20 or better during the spring semester, and be a starter or key reserve on her team.
Holy Cross finished the 2005-2006 campaign with a 16-14 overall mark, and placed second in the Patriot League with a 10-4 record.
