WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross field hockey head coach Zowie Tucker has announced that senior Megan Bourne (Lake Forest, Ill.) and junior Kelly Burke (Walpole, Mass.) have been named as captains for the 2012 season.
Bourne, who served as a vice captain in the 2011 season, appeared in all 18 contests and started in 15 for the Crusaders last season. She scored two goals on the season for a total of four points. Bourne scored her first collegiate goal against Dartmouth on Sept. 25, and another on Oct. 25 against Brown. She has played in 46 career games. Bourne is also a member the Holy Cross Leadership Academy.
Burke also appeared in all 18 games, starting in 16 on defense for the Crusaders last season. She tallied her first collegiate assist against Sacred Heart on Sept. 11. Burke has played in all 35 career games with 33 starts. She was named to the 2010 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
The Crusaders start the season on Friday, Aug. 24 at home versus Quinnipiac at 11:00 a.m.
