Women’s Golf Names 2014-2015 Captains

Morgan Powers

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's golf program has named seniors Morgan Powers (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Meaghan Sullivan (Brockton, Mass.) as its 2014-2015 team captains.

"Morgan and Meaghan epitomize the ideal Holy Cross student-athlete," said Holy Cross head women's golf coach Skip Guss. "Their dedication to Holy Cross and their fellow team members is remarkable and having both of them lead our team is very exciting!"

Powers, who has been a captain since her sophomore season, ranked second on the squad last season with an 18-hole average score of 85.6 strokes in nine rounds played. She shot a season-low round of 81 at the tri-match with Wellesley and Merrimack last year and led the Crusaders with a 20th place finish at the Sacred Heart Fall Classic with a two-round score of 173. In 2012-2013, Powers claimed the first tournament medalist in program history at the Nazareth Invitational.

Sullivan ranked fourth on last year's team with an average 18-hole score of 96.6 strokes in seven rounds played. She carded three rounds in the 90s at the Patriot League Championship, including a season-low score of 91 in the second round. Sullivan is also a member of the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team.

The Holy Cross women's golf team will begin its 2014-2015 season on Saturday & Sunday, Sept. 13-14 at the Dartmouth Invitational held at Hanover Country Club.
