Holy Cross Women's Golf Names 2008-09 Team Captains
The Holy Cross women's golf program has named seniors Flynn Govern, Alicia Molt and Elisabeth Sexton as 2008-09 team captains. Govern is a two-time member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll. This season she placed in 34th at the Sacred Heart Invitational, while she finished 36th at the 2007 Williams Spring Classic. Molt is also a two-time member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll. She placed 38th at the 2007 Big South Championship and finished 41st at the 2007 Williams Spring Classic. Sexton was a member of the 2006-07 Big South Presidential Honor Roll. This year she had a 42nd place finish at the 2008 Williams Spring Classic, while she placed 37th at the 2007 Big South Championship and she finished in 33rd at the 2007 Williams Spring Classic. HC Finishes Sixth At Williams Invite
The Holy Cross women's golf team finished in sixth place out of eight teams at the Williams Spring Invitational at the Taconic Golf Club. Freshman Meghan Doherty (Westerly, R.I.) led the Crusaders with a two-round score of 174 for a tie for 15th place. Holy Cross had a total score of 720, while Middlebury College won the event with a score of 671. Freshman Johanna Gavin (Hackettstown, N.J.) had the second best score for the Crusaders with a 176. Amy Lussier and the womens golf squad were one of 15 Holy Cross teams honored for their academic work.

HC Receives Public Recognition Award
Fifteen Holy Cross varsity athletic teams have received Division I Academic Progress Rate public recognition awards from the NCAA. These teams posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports. The public recognition awards are part of the broad Division I academic reform effort. The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. (more)
