WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross sophomore goaltender Alexandra Stevenson (Norwood, N.Y.) has been named ECAC East women's ice hockey Goalie of the Week for games played Nov. 19-25, as announced by the league. Stevenson earned the victory in the Crusaders' 2-1 win over Wesleyan on Sunday, Nov. 25.
Stevenson made 13 saves in the contest to improve to 2-1-1 on the season. The lone goal allowed came on a Wesleyan power play in the third period. Stevenson ended the game with 65 seconds of six-on-five action and 11 seconds of six-on-four action after the Cardinals pulled their goaltender with 1:16 remaining and drew a Holy Cross penalty with 11 seconds remaining. She stood her ground as the Crusaders earned their fifth victory of the season.
This is the first career Goalie of the Week award for Stevenson and the first time since the 2009 season any Crusader goaltender has received league recognition for her performance during the previous week. Stevenson has accumulated a .918 save percentage and 1.74 goals-against average this season.
Holy Cross (5-2-1, 3-2-1 ECAC East) will return to the Hart Center on Saturday, Dec. 1, hosting St. Michael's at 7:30 p.m.
