HC Fourth In ECAC East Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team was selected to finish fourth in the 2013-2014 ECAC Women's East Hockey League preseason poll as voted on by coaches from the league. Norwich was selected as the preseason favorite, earning 143 out of a possible 144 points and receiving all but one first place vote. The Cadets finished last season with a record of 22-4-3, won the ECAC Tournament and lost in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.

St. Anselm was voted in the number two spot with 119 points and one first place vote. Manhattanville was selected third with 112 points. Holy Cross came in fourth place with 105 points. Salve Regina was voted fifth with 94 points, Castleton State sixth with 90 points, UMass Boston seventh with 74 points, Southern Maine eighth with 61 points and New England College ninth with 55 points. Plymouth State (44 points), St. Michael's (21 points) and Nichols (18 points) rounded out the 10th, 11th and 12th spots, respectively.

Holy Cross returns 19 letterwinners from a team that went 16-6-5 a year ago and welcomes seven newcomers to the ice. The Crusaders will begin the season on Friday, Nov. 8, at Sacred Heart at 7:00 p.m.
