WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross junior women's lacrosse goalie Sarah Weber (Summit, N.J.) has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman Kaitlin Concilio (Ridgewood, N.J.) has been named the Rookie of the Week as the Crusaders went 2-0 with a 11-6 win versus Central Connecticut on April 17 and a 14-6 victory versus Patriot League opponent Lehigh on April 19. This is the second Patriot League Weekly honor for each player as Weber also earned this honor as a sophomore on April 16, 2012, and Concilio was named Rookie of the Week this season on Feb. 18.
Weber was outstanding in net in both victories as she tallied a 6.00 goals against average and a .571 save percentage. She made 11 saves and allowed six goals as she posted a .647 save percentage in the win versus CCSU, while in the victory versus Lehigh she tallied five saves and allowed six goals. Her 6.71 saves per game are third in the Patriot League this season. Weber's 18 career wins are fourth all-time in program history.
Concilio tallied two goals and two assists for four points on the week. She scored two goals and posted one assist for the three points versus CCSU, while she tallied one assist versus Lehigh. She leads the team with 14 assists. Her 14 assists are the most by a Crusader freshman since Patricia Sutton posted 23 in 2004. Her 0.82 assists per game are tied for sixth in the Patriot League. She also has six goals for 20 points.
The Crusaders (8-9 overall, 3-3 PL) are the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and will play No. 2 seed American (8-9 overall, 5-1 PL) in the semifinals on Friday, April 26, in Annapolis, Md., at 7:45 p.m. No. 1 seed Navy (16-1 overall, 6-0 PL) will meet No. 4 seed Lafayette (9-8 overall, 3-3 PL) at 5:00 p.m. Go here to watch the games: http://www.patriotleague.org/allaccess/.
