Patricia Sutton is in her second season as an assistant women’s lacrosse coach at Holy Cross in 2012. Sutton is a 2007 graduate of Holy Cross and is the program’s all-time leader in points, goals and draw controls.

Before returning to her alma mater, Sutton was an assistant coach for two seasons at Albany in 2009 and 2010. Sutton assisted with all aspects of the program, including recruiting and monitoring student-athletes’ academics. The Great Danes were very successful during her time at Albany. In the 2010 season, the team won its first-ever conference regular season title and set the school’s single-season record with a 13-3 mark, as the Great Danes were ranked in the IWLCA national poll (No. 19) for the first time in the program’s Division I history. Albany also ranked second nationally in scoring, was fourth in scoring margin and was sixth in scoring defense. In Sutton’s first season at Albany, the Great Danes finished with a winning record for the first time since 2000 and their nine wins was at the time the most Division I victories in program history. Prior to her time at Albany, Sutton was the girls junior varsity head coach at Wayland High School.

Sutton, who was also an executive board member of the Holy Cross Student Athlete Advisory Committee and a senior captain, was named the 2007 Crusader of the Year which is the most prestigious student-athlete award presented by the Varsity Club. It is awarded to a senior who has excelled not only in varsity athletics, but also in the classroom and the community, and has been prominent in campus activities.

Sutton had an outstanding playing career at Holy Cross as she holds career records in points (291), goals (215) and draw controls (171), while she is second all-time in assists (76) and tied for third in caused turnovers (64). She also ranks third all-time in the Patriot League in career goals and fourth in career points. The Crusaders won their first two Patriot League championships and made their first two NCAA Tournament appearances during her junior and senior seasons. At the time of her graduation, Sutton was tied for 19th all-time in career points and was 25th all-time in career goals in NCAA Division I history. Sutton is also all over the school’s single-season records as all four of her seasons are represented on the points and goals lists. She holds the record for points with 75 (2006, 2007) and for draw controls with 72 (2006).

Sutton received numerous accolades during her career, including earning second team All-Northeast Region (2006, 2007), Patriot League Tournament MVP (2007), Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year (2006), first team All-Patriot League (2005, 2006, 2007), second team All-Patriot League (2004) and Patriot League Rookie of the Year (2004) honors.

Sutton, who was a member of the Dean’s List and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, earned her bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Holy Cross in 2007. She is a native of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Sutton's sister Kat is a member of the Holy Cross (Class of 2012) women's lacrosse team.
