Holy Cross Women's Rowing Hosts The Snake Regatta
WORCESTER, Mass. -
Holy Cross finished with two boats in the top five in the women's
varsity eight race at the Snake Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond in
Worcester, Mass. on Saturday as the women's rowing team opened its
fall season. In all, 25 boats competed in the women's 8+ race.
The women's varsity eight from Mount Holyoke took first with a time
of 16:49.914, four-and-a-half seconds ahead of Bates' women's
varsity eight. The Crusaders' women's varsity eight of senior
coxswain Caroline Krug (Buffalo, N.Y.), senior
Monika Mangsen (Holden, Mass.), junior
Katherine Byrns (Manhasset, N.Y.) and sophomores
Kate Broderick (West Newbury, Mass.), Beth
Charron (Manchester, N.H.), Eliza Gettel
(Merrimack, N.H.), Meaghan Pedlow (Charlotte,
N.C.) and freshmen Aleks Torres (Saratoga Springs,
N.Y.) and Catherine Roy (Holliston,
Mass.) finished in third place with a time of 17:00.589.

finished 13th with a time of 18:49.978. The women's third varsity
eight of sophomore coxswain Jill Sollazzo (Bethlehem,
Pa.), senior Andrea Simari (Rochester,
Minn.), juniors Sarah Weinstein (Nashua,
N.H.) and Jackie Jankowski (Shrewsbury,
Mass.), sophomores Caroline Cataldo (North
Andover, Mass.) and Anne Parrin (Edina,
Minn.) and freshmen Kaleigh Hahn (Ellicott City,
Md.), Ali Hartman (Beverly, Mass.) and
Colleen Sharry (Braintree, Mass.) crossed the line
15th in 19:22.001.
The Crusaders return to action Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 17-18 in
Boston, Mass. at the Head of the Charles Regatta. Saturday's action
is scheduled to begin at 7:45 a.m., and the races on Sunday are set
to start at 8:00 a.m.
