2011-2012: Earned
second team All-Patriot League honors...member of the varsity eight
for all nine spring regattas...the varsity eight won races against
Simmons and Smith (March 31) and Connecticut (April 22)...the
Crusaders also placed 13th out of 31 boats at the Knecht Cup (April
14-15)...varsity eight finished fourth at the Patriot League
Championship (April 29) and third at the New England Championship
(May 5)...named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
2010-2011: Rowed for the Holy Cross
“A” boat in the pair race and was a member of the open
heavy championship eight boat at the 40th Schuylkill Regatta (Oct.
30) as the team tied for first out of 39 teams for the points
trophy…did not compete during the spring season due to an
injury…named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
2009-2010: Rowed for the varsity eight in all 14
varsity races…helped varsity eight to wins against Coast
Guard, Mount Holyoke and Wesleyan (March 27), and against Simmons
and Smith (March 28)…rowed in varsity eight which placed
fifth at the Patriot League Championship (April 25) and the New
England Championship (May 1), and won the petite finals at the ECAC
National Invitational (May 9).
Before Holy Cross: Three-year member of the
varsity rowing team at Saratoga Springs H.S. for coach Eric
Catalano...won the Founders Award...earned five National
Championship medals including one U.S. first place and two Canadian
first place medals...member of crews that won the 2008 and 2009 New
York State championship senior eight...member of the senior eight
that placed first at the New York State Section II Championship
(2008 and 2009), the Canadian Schoolboys Regatta nationals (2008)
and the Saratoga Invitational (2009)...part of the women’s
mid-weight eight which placed first at the 2009 Canadian Schoolboys
Regatta nationals women’s mid-weight eight...senior eight
placed third at the 2008 Scholastic Nationals and fifth at the 2008
Head of the Charles Regatta...part of the junior eight that
finished first at the 2007 Scholastic Nationals, the 2007 New York
State Championship, the New York State Section II Championship and
the New Jersey State Championship, while placing second at the
Stotesbury Regatta...rowed in the freshman eight which placed first
at the 2006 New York State Championship and the New York State
Section II Championship...won the College Board National Hispanic
Recognition Scholar Award...member of National Honor Society and a
Student Council Representative.
Personal: Daughter of David and Michele
Torres...has two brothers (Nicholas and Michael) and one sister
(Haleigh)...brother, Nicholas, played rugby at Harvard...a
Psychology major.
