Marakovits & Yacobucci Earn CRCA National Scholar-Athlete Accolades
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross women’s rowing senior captain Kelsey Marakovits (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and sophomore Lauren Yacobucci (East Aurora, N.Y.) have earned Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athlete honors. To be eligible for this honor, the student-athlete needs to have a 3.5 GPA or higher for her career (through the fall semester for the current competition year). The student-athlete also has to be at least a sophomore and rowed in a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event.
Marakovits had a 3.54 grade-point average through the fall semester as a Psychology and Sociology major. She was a member of the varsity eight in two spring regattas this season, while she rowed for the third varsity eight in three spring regattas and was a member of the varsity four that placed fifth at the Patriot League Championship. Marakovits is a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Yacobucci had a 3.69 grade-point average as a Psychology major. She was a member of the second varsity eight in all six spring regattas this season. As a freshman she was a member of the third varsity eight that won the grand final at the 2013 Eastern Sprints. Yacobucci was also a member of the 2013 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
