WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team fell to Massachusetts in non-conference competition at Lake Quinnsigamonnd on Sunday afternoon.
The women's varsity eight team of coxswain Katie Donnelly and rowers Clare Bracikowski, Bethany Charron, Johanna Cubelli, Abby Hammond, Meaghan Pedlow, Nicole Gabana, Monika Mangsen and Elisabeth Flaherty finished behind Massachusetts (6:56) with a time of 6:58.
Holy Cross' second varsity eight boat of coxswain Laura LeBourdais and rowers Kelly St. Germain, Mara Piltin, Jaqueline Esperti, Maura Hogan, Meredith Malysz, Katherine Byrns, Odet Douglass and Malgorzata Smas finished with a time of 7:09 Massachusetts (7:04).
In the third varsity eight race, Massachusetts won the race with a time of 7:09. The Crusaders boat of coxswain Amanda Woodgate and rowers Callie Gorman, Laura Dillon, Jackie Jankowski, Mary Kate Cullen, Jennifer Beaudoin, Sarah Weinstein, Clare Bracikowski and Jessica Ripp recorded a time of 7:35.7.
In the women's novice eight race, Massachusetts finished with a first place time of 7:09 while the Crusaders recorded a time of 7:57.
The women's rowing team returns to action on Saturday, April 11, hosting Trinity and Smith.
