WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior forward Shelby Stand (Douglas, Mass.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from September 6-12. Stand led the Holy Cross women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Quinnipiac on Sunday, in its only game of the week.
Against the Bobcats, Stand scored the first goal of the game at the 23:28 mark in the first half when she recovered a loose ball just beyond the 18-yard mark. She then added what proved to be the game winning 31 minutes into the game when she converted a cross from freshman forward Gaby Ransom (Concord, N.H.) from well beyond the box, making the score 2-0.
On the season, Stand now leads the team in scoring with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Over the course of her collegiate career, she has totaled 26 goals and nine assists for 61 points.
Holy Cross (2-3 overall) returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 15, when it travels to Bryant for a 7:00 p.m. game.
