Women's Soccer Aim For Road Win At Providence Wednesday

- The Holy Cross women's soccer team continues its season with a contest on the road against Providence on Wednesday, Aug. 31. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at Glay Field in Providence, R.I. The Friars have already played three games this season, picking up ties in every contest. The team last tied Charlotte 0-0 on Sunday, Aug. 28 and stand at 0-0-3 on the year.
- Holy Cross and Providence have met 22 times in program history, with the Friars leading the all-time series 16-4-2. The teams last played in head coach Darren Gallagher's first year at the helm, playing to a 0-0 tie on Sept. 9, 2009. Holy Cross last played at Glay Field on Sept. 4, 2008 and lost 3-0.
- Despite the 1-0 loss, junior netminder Ashlyn Angell (Raleigh, N.C.) played a tough battle allowing just one goal in eight shot-on-goal attempts. With one game complete, Angell saved 75 percent of the shots against her and now has a 1.00 goals-against-average. On her career, Angell has made 34 saves and posts a 1.64 GAA.
- Freshman Gina Righini (Salem, N.H.) showed her offensive ability as she led the team with four shots taken against Hartford. The new forward played four years of varsity soccer at Salem High School in New Hampshire. While there, she was named a 2010 NSCAA All-America, 2010 NSCAA New Hampshire Player of the Year, 2010 ESPN Rise All-Star and 2010 NSCAA All-New England.
