WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore forward Annie Galvin (Attleboro, Mass.) been named the GoHolyCross.com Crusader of the Week, for competition from September 16-22. Galvin helped lead the Holy Cross women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Loyola (Md.) in its only game last week.
In Saturday's 1-0 victory over Loyola in the Patriot League opener for both teams, Galvin scored the only goal of the day to lift the Crusaders to the victory. Her goal came with only 36 seconds left to play in the game, off passes from sophomore midfielder Jenna Scanlon (Auburn, Mass.) and junior midfielder Gina Righini (Salem, N.H.).
Galvin is now tied for the team lead in scoring this season with two points on one goal. Over the course of her collegiate career, she has scored five goals for 10 points.
The Crusaders (1-5-2 overall, 1-0-0 Patriot League) return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 25, when they play host to New Hampshire at 7:00 p.m.
