Women’s Soccer Announces Captains For 2014 Season

WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross women's soccer head coach Darren Gallagher has announced that seniors Carly McCabe (Barrington, R.I.), Ally Pasquariello (Suffield, Conn.), Gina Righini (Salem, N.H.) and Emily Gallagher (Duxbury, Mass.) will be team captains for the 2014 season.

"I am extremely excited to announce the 2014 women's soccer captains," head coach Darren Gallagher said. "With this veteran group you will find the quintessential leadership style. While each individual offers so much on the soccer field, they remain team-minded, focused and dedicated to the program's success. Our leadership is our foundation and we look forward to a very exciting year for Holy Cross women's soccer."

McCabe, who also served as a captain during the 2013 season, has played in 45 career games as goalkeeper for the Crusaders with 44 starts. Last season, she averaged 1.13 goals against ranking seventh in the Patriot League. She also posted a career-high 96 saves (second best in the Patriot League), a save percentage of .831, two wins and four shutouts. She currently holds the lowest goals against average in Holy Cross history at 1.15 and ranks fifth all-time with 10 career shutouts. McCabe has been named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week three times during her career and is a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Last season, she was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team. McCabe is also a member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy.

Pasquariello, who was also a captain in 2013, has started in 42 of her 47 career games at defense. Last season she scored her first career goal on a penalty kick in the contest against Fairfield (9/15). She tied for third on team with three total points. Pasquariello was a crucial member of a Holy Cross defense that allowed the fourth fewest opponent goals in team history (20 goals). She is also member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy.

Righini appeared in 17 games and made 17 starts last season. She scored a goal in a contest against Lafayette (10/5) and also tallied one assist. Righini was second on the team with two assists and four points on the year. For her career, she has compiled 10 goals and four assists for 20 total points. Righini was named first team All-Patriot League as a sophomore and earned second team All-Patriot League accolades during the 2011 season. She is a member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy and on the Executive Board of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.

Gallagher has appeared in 42 games in her career as a Crusader. She was named to the Patriot League Honor Roll in 2012 and is a member of both the Holy Cross Leadership Academy and Student Athletic Advisory Committee.
