WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore midfielder Casey Boland (Langhorne, Pa.) has been named the Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week, for competition from September 11-17. Boland totaled two goals and an assist last week, as the Holy Cross women's soccer team picked up its first victory of the season.
In Tuesday night's 5-1 home victory over Albany, Boland opened the scoring just 1:15 into the game, when she found the back of the net off a cross from freshman forward Shelby Stand (Douglas, Mass.). At the 18:20 mark, she then recorded an assist, setting up a goal by freshman midfielder Paige Harrison (Sutton, Mass.) to put the Crusaders up 2-0. Less than 10 minutes later, Boland made the score 3-0, knocking home a rebound off a shot by junior defender Meighan Kelly (Colts Neck, N.J.).
On the season, Boland now ranks second on the team in scoring with six points on two goals and two assists. Over the course of her career at Holy Cross, she has totaled three goals and four assists for 10 points.
The Crusaders (1-5-1 overall) return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 20, when they play host to New Hampshire in a 7:00 p.m. game at Linda Johnson Smith Stadium.
