WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman third baseman Alex Gustafson (Medford, Mass.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from March 28-April 3. Gustafson hit .571 with five runs batted in and six runs scored last week, as the Holy Cross softball team posted a 4-2 record in six games.
During Wednesday's doubleheader against Rhode Island, Gustafson went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored. Then in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader at Lafayette, she was 5-for-5 with three runs batted in and three runs scored. Gustafson concluded the week by going 4-for-8 with four runs scored in Sunday's doubleheader at Lafayette, and scored the game-winning run in the 12th inning of game two. She had at least one hit in each contest last week, and recorded a .952 sluggling percentage and a .640 on-base percentage over the course of the six games.
Overall this season, Gustafson is batting .345 with five doubles, three home runs and 13 runs scored. She also leads the Patriot League with a .625 batting average in conference games.
The Crusaders (10-12 overall, 4-0 Patriot League) return to action on Tuesday, April 5, when they play host to Bryant in a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
