WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross sophomore Emily Jarvis (Hopkinton, Mass.) blasted a three-run walk off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to help lead the Crusaders to a 4-2 victory over Army in Patriot League softball action on Monday afternoon at Freshman Field. With the win, Holy Cross improves to 11-22 on the season and 6-9 in the conference, while the Black Knights fall to 22-23 overall and 9-6 in the league.

Army grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning, as senior Amanda Nguyen tripled to deep center field to score Savanna Aversa. The Black Knights added another run in their half of the fourth to go up 2-0. Junior Alex Gaff singled down the left-field line to plate Kasey McCravery.

With Army on top 2-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh, starting pitcher Kristen West was looking to secure her third straight shutout. With one out in the frame, Crusader sophomore Colleen Ahern (Northbrook, Ill) started the seventh-inning rally with a single down the left-field line, just out of reach of the third baseman. West than gave up back-to-back walk to load the bases. Sophomore pinch runner Hailey Mullen (Plainville, Mass.) scored the Crusaders' first run of the game two batters later on a passed ball to make the score 2-1. Jarvis then launched her first home run of the season over the right-field fence to propel the Crusaders to a walk off 4-2 victory.

Holy Cross senior pitcher Julia Barrett (Gardner, Mass.) came on in relief and earned the win (7-6) in two innings of work, as she gave up one hit to go along with one strikeout. Crusader sophomore Gennifer Durham (Abbeville, S.C.) started the game and threw five full innings giving up five hits and two runs, while recording four punchouts. West suffered the loss (5-5), as she tossed 6.2 innings and surrendered four runs on six hits with four strikeouts.
