WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team lost to Fairfield by a score of 217-83 in its first home meet of the season on Saturday afternoon. Senior Kristen Desrosiers (Gorham, Maine) was the top finisher for the Crusaders earning 11 individual points for the team.
Desrosiers finished second in the 200 freestyle and 200 individual medley with times of 2:04.08 and 2:20.90, respectively. Senior Katelyn Desrosiers (Gorham, Maine) took second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:38.11. Seniors Natalie Livingston (Auburn, Wash.) and Jill Chudwick (Farmington, Conn.) each finished second in their events with Livingston touching the wall in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.95 and Chudwick finishing at 2:24.60 in the 200 butterfly.
Sophomore Katherine Shreve (Sturbridge, Mass.) also recorded a second place finish in the 100 butterfly with at time of 1:06.25. The 400 medley relay team consisting of junior Megan Marrkand (Westford, Mass.), Katelyn Desrosiers, Kristen Desrosiers and sophomore Mary Kate Schulte (Des Moines, Iowa) rounded out the top finishes for the Crusaders with a time of 4:22.37.
On the diving side, sophomore Alicia LiCalzi (New Canaan, Conn.) was the top Holy Cross performer in the one meter dive with a score of 153.15 and sophomore Teddie Massad (Westborough, Mass.) led the Crusaders with a score of 131.54 in the three meter dive.
The women's swimming and diving team will return to action on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20, at the New England Catholic Invitational. Preliminary races are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday and the meet will continue at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
