LEWISBURG, Pa. – The 200 freestyle relay team comprised of senior Kristen Desrosiers (Gorham, Maine), sophomore Kristie Coleman (Brooklyn, N.Y.), senior Laura Webber (Hampden, Mass.) and sophomore Mary Kate Schulte (Des Moines, Iowa) finished in sixth place with a time of 1:40.71 to earn 26 team points as the Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team competed in day one of the 2013 Patriot League Championship on Thursday at Bucknell.
Schulte led the Crusaders in the individual swimming events with a new personal best time of 25.16 in the 50 freestyle. Webber (25.66), Coleman (25.79) and senior Clare Reidy (Northford, Conn.) (26.72) also recorded career-best times in the preliminaries of the 50 freestyle.
The 400 medley relay team comprised of freshman Claire O'Brien (Bedford, N.Y.), senior Katelyn Desrosiers (Gorham, Maine), Kristen Desrosiers and Schulte earned 22 more team points for Holy Cross with a time of 4:08.04 and eighth place finish.
The Crusaders are currently in sixth place with 48 points. Navy leads the team competition 223 points, followed by Colgate (167) and host Bucknell (154).
Day two of the Patriot League Championship will begin tomorrow, Feb. 22, with preliminary heats beginning at 10:30 a.m.
