Women's Tennis Bests Connecticut College, 7-0

WORCESTER, Mass. – After one week off of action due to rainouts, the Holy Cross women's tennis team returned to the courts for a 7-0 win against Connecticut College at the Holy Cross Tennis Courts. With the decision, the Crusaders improve to a record of 3-1 on the fall while the Camels pick up their first dual match decision, going to 0-1. For the third time in four dual matches, the Crusaders combined for a full-match sweep.

Senior Carolyn Chandley (Worcester, Mass.) continued her win-streak at No. 4 singles, winning in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4). Sophomore Maya Welch (Rye, N.Y.) also took her No. 5 match to extra games, winning 7-6 (10-8), 6-3. Freshman Taylor Stathis (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) also won her first match as the team's No. 2 player, improving her season record to 2-1 in singles.

The Crusaders also won all three doubles matches as Chandley and fellow senior Emily Marr (Jefferson, Mass.) won their sixth match of the season at No. 2 doubles, 8-4. Senior Emma Rudnik (Lake Bluff, Ill.) and junior Jessica DeSimone (Lincoln, R.I.) also won their fifth match of the season together in the No. 3 spot.

Holy Cross continues its fall season on Friday, Sept. 30 against Merrimack. The match is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Holy Cross Tennis Courts in Worcester, Mass.
