Women’s Tennis Falls In First Spring Match To Southern New Hampshire, 8-1

GOFFSTOWN, N.H. – The Holy Cross women's tennis team dropped its first spring 2013 match to Southern New Hampshire, 8-1, on Friday evening at the Allard Center. With the setback, the Crusaders slip to 2-3 overall this season, while the Penmen improve to 6-1.

Holy Cross freshman Abby Henry (Wellesley, Mass.) won the only Crusaders point during the match at No. 4 singles as she defeated Kirsten Jean, 6-4, 2-6, 10-4. Henry teamed up with junior Maya Welch (Rye, N.Y.) in No. 2 doubles, but the pair lost a close match, 8-5, to Yolanda Green and Amada Albuquerque.

In her first match of the 2012-2013 season, sophomore Taylor Stathis (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) lost her No.1 singles match to Alena Mukdaprakorn, by a score of 6-2, 6-1.

The Crusaders will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 23, when they travel to Stonehill for a 5:00 p.m. start.
