NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Holy Cross women's track and field team competed in the Yale Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Coxe Cage in New Haven, Conn. The Crusaders carried a very young squad to Yale as most of the top finishers for Holy Cross were sophomores or freshmen.
Freshman Abigail Mitchell (Manchester, N.H.) led the Crusaders in the one mile with a time of 5:27.07 finishing in 16th place. In the 400 the Crusaders were led by freshman Fiorella Johnson (Redding, Conn.) finishing in 14th place with a time of 59.80 seconds.
Other top Crusader finishes included freshman Julia Levesque (West Simsbury, Conn.) who ran in the 60 hurdles finishing with a time of 10.05 seconds, good enough for an eighth place finish. Sophomore Mariel Flood (Kinnelon, N.J.) competed in the long jump finishing in 16th place with a distance of 4.76 meters. Freshman Melissa Sheridan (Loudonville, N.Y.) led the Crusaders in the 800 finishing in 11th place with a time of 2:28.67.
The Holy Cross women's track and field team continues action on Saturday, Jan. 21 when it travels to Durham, N.H. to compete against New Hampshire and Stonehill at 12 p.m.
