BOSTON, Mass. – Five members of the Holy Cross women's track and field team took part in the final day of action at the ECAC Indoor Championship on Sunday in Boston. After finishing first overall in the 4x800 relay preliminaries on Saturday, juniors Kathleen Brekka (Hubbardston, Mass.), Brittany Gorski (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Sarah Meinelt (Topsfield, Mass.) and senior Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) took home second place in today's final heat finishing with a time of 8:59.44. Only Cornell was able to top the Crusaders and Holy Cross was the only team from New England to record team points in the event.
In the field events, senior Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.) competed in the weight throw finishing seventh in her flight with a distance of 15.31 meters.
With the conclusion of the ECAC Championship, the 2011-2012 women's track and field indoor season is now complete. The outdoor season is set to begin March 24 at the Husky Spring Open.
