PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Holy Cross women's track and field team traveled to the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday afternoon in Providence, R.I. and the 4x100 meter relay team led the Crusaders with a first place finish. The team was comprised of freshman Brianna Tabin (South Hadley, Mass.), junior Melanie Forte (Milford, N.H.), freshman Katie Bobinski (Torrington, Conn.) and sophomore Stephanie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) and crossed the finish line with a time of 47.95 seconds.
Senior Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.) finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14:69. Tabin finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.28 seconds. Freshman Fiorella Johnson (Redding, Conn.) took fifth in her heat and eighth overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.13 and Bobinski landed 10th in the same event crossing the line at 1:01.83.
Sophomore Sammy DeCoste (Hingham, Mass.) finished fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.40 meters and sophomore Mariel Flood (Kinnelon, N.J.) and junior Bridget Straub (Mattituck, N.Y.) finished 10th and 11th in the long jump with distances of 4.64 and 4.63 meters, respectively. Seniors Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.) and Megan Skwirz (Smithfield, R.I.), junior Kelcey Germain (Auburn, Mass.), sophomore Christy Manning (Scarborough, Maine) and freshman Marissa Romano (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) each added top-10 finishes in their respective field events.
The Crusaders will return to action on Friday and Saturday, May 4-5, when it hosts the Patriot League Championship at the Hart Track beginning at 9:15 a.m. on Friday and 10:15 a.m. on Saturday.
