KINGSTON, R.I. – The women's indoor track and field team traveled to the Go Rhody Invitational on Friday. Senior Kathleen Brekka (Hubbardston, Mass.), sophomore Mackenzie Arndt (Merrimack, Mass.) and freshman Oona Wood (Williamstown, Mass.) each recorded second place finishes in their respective events.
Brekka set a seaon-best time of 3:06.08 in the 1,000-meter while Arndt competed in the pole vault and finished at a height of 3.45 meters. Wood ran the 500-meter in a time of 1:18.93. Other top performers for the Crusaders included senior Kelcey Germain (Auburn, Mass.) who took fourth in the weight throw with a career-best distance of 14.89 meters and junior Kylene Carey (East Bridgewater, Mass.) who finished seventh in the long jump with a season-best distance of 4.98 meters. Carey also set a career-best mark in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.33 seconds.
The women's indoor track and field team will return to competition on Saturday, Jan. 19, at New Hampshire with Stonehill at 12:00 p.m.
