BOSTON, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's track team competed in its final indoor competition of the season at the ECAC Indoor Championship, taking 12th of 51 teams, its best finish in recent history. Senior Brittany Gorski (Tewksbury, Mass.) led the team with a fourth place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.99.
Junior Stephanie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) took fifth in the final of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.61 seconds and seventh in the 200-meter dash final with a time of 24.45. Okpoebo set a new school record in the 60-meter (7.53 seconds) and set an indoor record in the 200-meter (24.29 seconds) in yesterday's preliminary heats.
The 4x800-meter relay team comprised of seniors Kathleen Brekka (Hubbardston, Mass.) and Sarah Meinelt (Topsfield, Mass.), freshman Caroline Carley (Barrington, Mass.) and Gorski took 7th in this afternoon's final with a team season-best time of 9:01.85.
Yesterday, sophomore Mackenzie Arndt (Merrimack, Mass.) also broke the school record in the pole vault with a career-best height of 3.85 meters. Connecticut won the team championship with a score of 60.50 points.
The 2013 indoor track and field season has come to an end.
