WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman thrower Elizabeth Provost (Adams, Mass.) has been named M-F Athletic Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week for her performance at last Saturday's Holy Cross home meet (4/20), as announced by the league. Provost won the discus throw with a personal season-best distance of 38.41 meters, helping the Crusaders finish first of seven participating teams.
The rookie also set personal season-bests marks in the other two events she participated in on Saturday. Provost threw the shot put 11.98 meters and hammer 39.77 meters, finishing fifth and eighth, respectively. Her distances in the shot put and discus throw were each team season-best marks.
Provost joins junior Stephanie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) and freshman Oona Wood (Williamstown, Mass.) as the only Crusaders to be recognized by the Patriot League so far this season. Okpoebo has been named M-F Athletic Female Track Athlete of the Week twice while Wood has earned M-F Athletic Female Rookie of the Week honors once.
The Holy Cross women's track and field team will return to competition on Sunday, April 28, at the Brown Springtime Invitational beginning at 10:00 a.m.
