WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross volleyball program has named juniors Angela Chisholm (Millis, Mass.) and Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) as 2009 team captains.
As a libero during the 2008 season, Chisholm led the team with a career-best 241 digs and a career-best 3.21 digs per set. Her 3.21 digs per set were ranked fifth in the Patriot League. She was also second on the team with a career-best 14 service aces and a career-best 27 assists. As a freshman, she ranked fourth on the team with 1.72 digs per game and her 112 digs were fifth. For her career she has played 48 matches and has 353 digs.
O'Donnell, who has been a two-year starter as a setter, led the team last season with 594 assists and a career-best 22 service aces. She also had a career-best eight double-doubles giving her 11 for her career. Her 182 digs and 2.14 career-best digs per set each ranked third on the team, while her 25 career-best total blocks were third. As a freshman, her 891 assists ranked second on the Holy Cross all-time single-season list and her 9.48 assists per game ranked third as she led the Patriot League in assists by freshmen. She has played 53 career matches and her 1,485 career assists are fifth all-time at Holy Cross.
The Crusaders return 11 players with all six starters and welcome five freshmen.
