- The Holy Cross volleyball team
will play four matches this week. The Crusaders will play at
Central Connecticut on Tuesday, Sept. 15 and then conclude regular
season tournament play when they compete at the Brown Invitational
on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18-19. Holy Cross will meet
tournament host Brown on Friday at 7:30 p.m., while on Saturday it
will take on Stony Brook at 1:00 p.m. and Brown for a second time
at 4:00 p.m. The Crusaders fell to Central Connecticut last year at
the Holy Cross Field House, 3-2, by scores of 23-25, 25-11, 25-15,
23-25 and 15-13.
- Junior setter Chelsey
O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) now has 1,688 career assists
which move her to third on the Holy Cross all-time assists list.
She had two double-doubles on the week as she now has three for the
season and 14 for her career. O'Donnell's 38 digs and 2.92 digs per
set led the team for the week.
- O'Donnell, along with senior
Samantha Surface (Fresno, Calif.), was named to
the Beanpot Classic All-Tournament Team. O'Donnell also earned this
honor last year, while this marks the third time during her career
that she has been named to a regular season all-tournament team.
This was the first time that Surface has made an all-tournament
team while at Holy Cross.
- Freshman Megan Lynch
(Mendham, N.J.) recorded her first collegiate
double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs as Holy Cross defeated
Bryant, 3-1. Her 39 kills and 3.00 kills per set ranked first on
the team for the week, while her 68 kills and 2.52 kills per set
for the season lead the team.
- As of Sept. 14, Holy Cross' 1.63 service aces per set are the third most in the Patriot League. Junior Angela Chisholm (Millis, Mass.) has 3.22 digs per set which are seventh on the Patriot League leaders list, while O'Donnell's 0.41 service aces per set are seventh and Chisholm's 0.37 service aces per set are tied for ninth. Sophomore Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) has a .246 hitting percentage which is ranked ninth around the league.
