- The Crusaders will play three
matches this week including their last non-conference contest of
the season when they play at Quinnipiac on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 7:00
p.m. Holy Cross will then play two Patriot League matches at the
Holy Cross Field House with Navy on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7:00 p.m.,
and American on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 4:00 p.m.
- Quinnipiac enters the match with a
2-18 overall record (2-6 NEC). Both Holy Cross and Quinnipiac have
gone 0-6 against common opponents this season. The Crusaders won
the last meeting between the teams by a 3-1 score on Sept. 5, 2006
at Holy Cross.
- Navy is 5-14 overall (1-4 Patriot
League), with a 3-2 conference win over Lafayette. The Mids will
play Howard on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Last week, Navy lost to American,
3-0. Over the last eight matches between these two teams, the
Crusaders have a 1-7 record with the lone win on Oct. 27, 2006, by
a score of 3-2 at the Holy Cross Field House.
- American is 9-9 overall (3-2
Patriot League). The Eagles will play William & Mary and Army
before meeting the Crusaders. Holy Cross is 0-17 all-time versus
American. Claire Recht leads the Patriot League with a .319 hitting
percentage. The Eagles lead the league with 2.05 blocks per set,
while they are second with a .216 hitting percentage, 11.66 assists
per set and 12.82 kills per set.
- Last week, junior setter
Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) reached 2,000
career assists and is only the second Crusader to record 2,000
assists. She now has 2,048 career assists. Her 563 assists this
season are fourth on the Patriot League leaders list. O'Donnell's
145 digs and 2.10 digs per set are tied for second on the team,
while her 23 service aces and 0.33 service aces per set are tied
for the team-lead and are tied for eighth around the league.
- Junior Angela Chisholm
(Millis, Mass.) is having an outstanding season as she is
second around the Patriot League with 262 digs and is third with
3.80 digs per set. She has posted double-digit digs 12 times this
season, including three times with over 20 digs. Last week she had
10 digs as the Crusaders defeated Bryant, 3-0. Chisholm is also
tied for the team-lead and tied for eighth around the Patriot
League with 23 service aces and 0.33 service aces per set.
- Freshman Megan Lynch
(Mendham, N.J.) has recorded double-digit kills 11 times
this season, including nine of the last 12 matches. She has either
led the team or tied for the team-lead for kills 16 out of the 19
matches. For the season she leads the team with 223 kills and 3.23
kills per set, while she is tied for second on the team with 145
digs and 2.10 digs per set. Her 3.23 kills per set are tied for
second around the league and her 223 kills are third.
- Freshman Callie Black
(Fallon, Nev.) is having a strong season at the net as she
leads the team with 39 blocks and 0.57 blocks per set. She has
either led the team or tied for the team-lead for blocks 11 times
this season. She is also fourth on the team with 90 kills.
- Sophomore Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) is having a career season as she has already surpassed her totals from her outstanding freshman season. She has 124 kills, 38 digs, 35 blocks, 20 service aces and seven assists. She is second on the team for kills and blocks. For the entire 2008 season, she recorded 98 kills, 24 digs, 27 blocks, six service aces and four assists. Colpoys ranked second on the team for blocks and was third for kills.
