WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr., and volleyball coach Marritt Cafarchia have announced the Crusaders' 2010 schedule. Holy Cross is scheduled to play 33 regular season matches, including 15 at the Holy Cross Field House.
The Crusaders jump right into their season on August 27, hosting a tournament that features Holy Cross taking on Boston College, Quinnipiac and Northeastern. Part two of the tournament resumes the following day (Aug. 28) at Boston College, where the Crusaders will battle Fordham to finish tournament play. Holy Cross will face off against the Friars at Providence (Sept. 1) before taking part in the Marist Tournament (Sept. 4 and 5) against NJIT and Marist. The Crusaders return home to face Hartford (Sept. 7) before heading to the Bryant Tournament to face Boston College (Sept. 10), Bryant (Sept. 11) and Manhattan (Sept. 11). After the Crusaders play a home match versus Harvard (Sept. 14), they will take part in the Brown Invitational (Sept. 17 and 18) versus Brown, Boston College and Rhode Island.
The Crusaders will return home to play Central Connecticut (Sept. 22) and then begin the Patriot League season with home matches against Lafayette (Sept. 24) and Lehigh (Sept. 25), before hitting the road to battle Navy (Oct. 1) and American (Oct. 2). After a non-conference match at home versus Bryant (Oct. 6), Holy Cross will travel to take on Army (Oct. 9). Following the last non-conference match of the season at home versus Quinnipiac (Oct. 13), the Crusaders will play two Patriot League matches at the Holy Cross Field House with contests against Colgate (Oct. 15) and Bucknell (Oct. 16), and then hit the road to battle Lehigh (Oct. 22) and Lafayette (Oct. 23). The Crusaders return home for a three-game stand against Army (Oct. 30), American (Nov. 5) and Navy (Nov. 6). The Crusaders will conclude the regular season on the road with matches at Bucknell (Nov. 12) and Colgate (Nov. 13).
The Patriot League Tournament will take place on Nov. 20-21, on the campus of the regular season champion. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the tournament.
