Volleyball Loses To Marist, 3-1

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Senior setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and sophomore Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) each recorded double-doubles, but Lindsey Schmid tallied 16 kills and Katie Estes had a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs for the Red Foxes as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Marist, 3-1, on Sunday at the McCann Center by scores of 25-13, 25-15, 18-25 and 25-9. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 3-5 overall, while the Red Foxes improve to 5-3 overall. Marist defeated Holy Cross on Saturday by a 3-0 score.

O'Donnell's 31 assists and 12 digs was her the third double-double of the season and the 22nd of her career, while Lynch recorded 11 kills and 11 digs for her fifth double-double of the season and the 12th of her career. Senior Angela Chisholm (Millis, Mass.) led the Crusaders with 15 digs, while freshman Alex Aycock (Jonesboro, Ark.) tallied six kills and sophomore Callie Black (Fallon, Nev.) posted five kills. Sophomore Liz Ashton (Milford, Mass.) and freshman Christiana Blakeslee (Ashtabula, Ohio) each tallied four kills. Blakeslee's four kills was a season best.   

Hanna Stoiberg recorded 27 assists for Marist and Emily Brosky had 16 digs.

The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 7, when they play Hartford at the Holy Cross Field House at 7:00 p.m.
