SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) and senior setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) each recorded double-doubles but the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Manhattan, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Bryant Invitational by scores of 14-25, 25-20, 25-17 and 25-23. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 4-8 overall, while the Jaspers improve to 3-5 overall. The Crusaders concluded play at the Bryant Invitational with a 1-2 record at the tournament. Lynch was named to the All-Tournament team as she recorded 42 kills and 38 digs in three matches as she averaged 3.23 kills per set and 2.92 digs per set.
Lynch posted her eighth double-double of the season and the 15th of her career with 16 kills and 15 digs, while O'Donnell recorded her fifth double-double of the season and the 24th of her career with 35 assists and 14 digs. Sophomore Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) led the team with 22 digs, while senior Rebecca DeSanti (Hampden, Mass.) and junior Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) each had 10 kills. Senior Angela Chisholm (Millis, Mass.) tallied 10 digs and sophomore Liz Ashton (Milford, Mass.) recorded eight kills.
Manhattan was led by Diane Strutner who recorded a double-double with 18 kills and 23 digs, while Jamie Collareta tallied 47 assists. Julie Bies recorded 27 digs.
The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 7:00 p.m., at the Holy Cross Field House when they play Harvard.
