PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) recorded her ninth double-double of the season and the 16th of her career, but the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Brown, 3-0, on Friday evening at the Brown Invitational by scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-21. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 5-9 overall, while the Bears improve to 4-5 overall. The Crusaders continue action at the Brown Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 18, when they take on Boston College at noon and Rhode Island at 5:00 p.m.
Lynch tallied 10 kills and 10 digs, while senior Angela Chisholm (Millis, Mass.) led the team with 17 digs. Chisholm has recorded double-digit digs in nine matches this season including in seven straight. Senior setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) posted 20 assists and eight digs, while senior Rebecca DeSanti (Hampden, Mass.) added six kills.
Brown was led by Alexandra Rieckhoff who recorded a double-double with 35 assists and 10 digs. Thea Derrough and Brianna Williamson each tallied nine kills.
