WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) recorded her ninth double-double of the season and the 28th of her career with 34 assists and 13 digs, but the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Colgate, 3-1, on Friday evening at the Holy Cross Field House by scores of 25-21, 20-25, 25-14 and 25-21, in Patriot League action. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 10-15 overall (2-4 Patriot League), while the Raiders improve to 11-9 overall (4-2 Patriot League).
O'Donnell now has 3,171 career assists as she is seven assists away from setting a new all-time Holy Cross record. Michelle Leahy (2001-2004) holds the record with 3,177 career assists. O'Donnell's 793 assists this year are ninth all-time at Holy Cross for a single season. Sophomore Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) tallied 15 kills and nine digs. Lynch's 327 kills this season are sixth all-time at Holy Cross for a single season, while her 698 career assists are already sixth all-time at the school. Junior Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) posted a season-best 12 kills and a season-best four blocks, while freshman Alex Aycock (Jonesboro, Ark.) recorded nine kills and eight digs. Sophomore Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) tallied 15 digs and senior Angela Chisholm (Millis, Mass.) recorded 14 digs. Chisholm's 328 digs are eighth all-time for a season at Holy Cross.
The Raiders were led by Kaylee Fifer who recorded a double-double with 29 assists and 15 digs, while Lindsay Young also tallied a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Devon Applegate recorded 15 digs and Maureen Colligan tallied 11 kills.
The Crusaders return to action when they play Patriot League opponent Bucknell at the Holy Cross Field House on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 4:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Holy Cross volleyball team will hold a "Dig Pink" day.
