Volleyball Picked Seventh In Patriot League Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross volleyball team has been picked seventh in the 2011 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. American was picked to finish first as it earned 14 of 16 first place votes and 98 total points. Army had 83 total points as it was picked to finish second, followed by Colgate who received two first place votes and 74 total points. Bucknell placed fourth (57 total points), Lehigh finished fifth (56 total points), Navy placed sixth (34 total points), Holy Cross was seventh (28 total points) and Lafayette was eighth (19 total points).

Holy Cross will kick off the 2011 season when it co-hosts the Beanpot Classic with Northeastern. On Friday, Aug. 26, the Crusaders will play Fairleigh Dickinson (12:00 p.m.) and Central Connecticut (3:00 p.m.) at the Holy Cross Field House, while on Saturday, Aug. 27, the tournament moves to Solomon Court in Boston, Mass., as the Crusaders will meet the Huskies (11:00 a.m.).
