WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) and freshman Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) have been named to the 2011 Beanpot Classic All-Tournament team. The Crusaders went 1-1 at the tournament on Aug. 26 at the Holy Cross Field House with a 3-1 loss versus Fairleigh Dickinson and a 3-0 win over Central Connecticut.
Colpoys, who earns her first career regular season all-tournament team honor, recorded a total of 16 kills over the two matches as she led the team with a .342 hitting percentage. She also tied for the team-lead with nine blocks and four aces. In the season-opener versus Fairleigh Dickinson, she led the Crusaders with five blocks and four aces, while she was second with 10 kills. In the victory over CCSU, she tallied six kills with a team-best .400 hitting percentage.
Stokes was outstanding in her first two collegiate matches as she recorded double-doubles in both contests. She was the first Holy Cross freshman to record a double-double in the first match of the season since Valerie Mora recorded 13 kills and 13 digs on Sept. 2, 2003 versus Quinnipiac. Stokes is the first freshman to tally double-doubles in the first two matches of the season in at least 11 years. Over the two matches she posted 58 assists, 26 digs, nine kills, four blocks and three aces. In her collegiate debut versus the Knights she tallied 32 assists and 15 digs, while in the win over Central Connecticut she recorded 26 assists and 11 digs.
The Crusaders return to action when they play Providence at the Holy Cross Field House on Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 6:00 p.m.
