STORRS, Conn. – The Huskies recorded an outstanding .402 hitting percentage and had two players tally double-digit kills as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to UConn, 3-0, on Friday night at the Connecticut Invitational at Gampel Pavilion by scores of 25-17, 25-11 and 25-9. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-2 overall, while the Huskies improve to 2-2 overall.
Junior Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) led the Crusaders with 11 digs. Watters has posted double-digit digs in all four matches this season. Junior Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) recorded five kills, while junior Callie Black (Fallon, Nev.) and freshman Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) each tallied three blocks.
UConn was led by Mattison Quayle who recorded 16 kills and Angela Roidt who posted 46 assists. Jordan Kirk was also strong with 15 kills.
The Crusaders continue action at the Connecticut Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Crusaders will meet Binghamton (10:00 a.m.) and Howard (5:00 p.m.).
